Our Story |The Koh-I-NoorJourney

A halal Indian story, rooted in Hong Kong.

1987

A Humble Halal Beginning

Koh-I-Noor began as an Indian restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui, serving hearty halal meals to a few loyal guests each day. Those first evenings were simple — freshly made curries, warm naan, and conversations that slowly turned first-time visitors into regulars.

The Name “Koh-I-Noor”

Koh-I-Noor takes its name from the legendary diamond from Central India, meaning “mountain of light.” For us, it stands for many facets coming together — halal peace of mind, comforting Indian flavours, and warm hospitality in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. Over the years, that name has come to mean something simple to our guests: a trusted halal place where the food shines, and the welcome feels familiar.

Today: A Halal Home for Many

Today, we serve travellers, office crowds, and families who return for comforting curries, tandoori grills, biryanis, and Indian chai they’ve grown to love. At the same time, we keep refining our service, our space, and our flavours for the next generation of guests.
